Not much going on these days.

  • Lots of work.
  • I’ve got four songs in various stages of being written.
  • I’m now moderator of two forums on Calnet, which is a year old.
  • I graduate from Witch Class in a couple of days.
  • Fina and Mallory are hanging around here. They are fun to shop with.

That’s about all that’s going in here. Outside…

  • The new, audio- and Flash-based production of the Dr Who story Shada is better than I could have expected. Douglas Adams’ script is adapted for audio (and a slight change of lead character, as it’s now the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann) rather than the Fourth (Tom Baker) featured in the story,) without losing an ounce of that special Douglas Adams-ness.
  • Violent J wrote a fun story on Insane Clown Posse’s site.
  • A Japanese site teaches meat sculpture, whilst an Italian one displays toilet roll portraits.
  • There is now a fund being raised to benefit that Star Wars Kid.

Venadium is my hero! He dug me up this screenshot which proves I’m not delusional, I was in fact name-checked in The Matrix: Reloaded. Click for a bigger one.

RTF Control

That screenshot is from insecure.org‘s collection of nmap-related images from the hacking scene in Matrix 2.

Thanks again, Venadium!

Just got back from seeing the Matrix. Wow. And, uh, wow!

(Don’t worry if you haven’t seen the flick yet but want to, there are no movie spoilers here.)

Putting aside for the moment how much this movie rocked my mismatched socks, I got a namecheck! When Trinity is hacking at a power station, I could swear that for a moment a display reads “RTF Control.”

I jump for glee! Can anyone out there with a bootleg get me a screen grab of that shot?

Grabbed the new Weird Al album the day it came out. It’s insanely fun. The bonus mixes and movies are well worth buying the disc for, instead of – as Al says in the bonus material – downloading it like some HOOLIGAN!!!

I finally rented “Star Trek: Nemesis.” I was in danger of having my hopeless geek’s union card taken away, since this was the first Star Trek film I missed seeing in the theater since seeing II with my grandfather. I enjoyed this one very much, and it ranks among my favorite Treks now, even though they killed off my favorite character.

I finally got around to throwing Ad-Aware onto my mom’s computer. Cleaned out 53 pieces of spyware and data miners. Every net-connected PC should have this sort of thing installed. But, try explaining that to your mom.

Taking the family to see The Matrix Reloaded tonight.

Rocky Horror rocked, as always. I grabbed a CD Charley “Chuck Naked” Layton released of original songs he sings before the show. It’s now officially the best album involving sex with animals, family members, and household appliances I own. The cast and crew remain some of the coolest people in New York City to get stuff thrown at you by.

Fina, as always, got hit on by far more people than I.

Matt’s video card problem is officially bugging me. For far too long I’ve had his powerful PC sitting in my house, unable to get the thing to work.

This site lets you design your own industrial signage. Someone from Calnet called KillMarketers has made good use of this, and put together a fascinating collection of Signs From Hell. (Here’s a mirror in case Tripod’s bandwidth limit is exceeded.) Print these!

Mom was sick for Mother’s Day Weekend, so Fina and I are taking her to see Rocky Horror tonight. It’s a neat addition to the card we got her… rather than a Mother’s Day card, we used an apology card.

I linked Fina’s pal Mallory today. She’s one of the coolest people with pink striped hair who is frightened by what I look like after stumbling home after a twelve hour shift in the world!

Dear Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott,

Thank you for your question. We regret to inform you that no, you most definitely do not “look like a Halle Berry poster.”

Please feel free to contact us with any further questions.

Sincerely,

The World

I’m just now going to sleep. Days off are fun.

A new crop of quiz results are ready for the harvest. I love these things. In just ten minutes I found out that I’m stupid, Optimus Prime, and were I a famous homosexual I’d be Eleanor Roosevelt.

I had a dream a few nights ago that’s stuck with me. It started with me trimming my nails, but as I looked closer I found that I was actually trimming rotting, blackened, dead pieces off myself. With every trim, a blob of negative crap that’s been building up in my system fell away, and I felt instantly better. That cleaned-up feeling hasn’t left me as of yet.

How’s that for season-specific navel-gazing, Spring being the time of rebirth and all? Not uncoincidentally, I’ve been doing some spring cleaning on some aspects of my life lately, with promising results so far.

My damn room is still a mess, though.

Here’s something that’s sure to shock anyone who’s known me for all that long… I’m thinking of joining a gym. Fina is even interested in going with, which is amazingly cool as I’d have her to goof around with, rather than taking a solo trip to steroidville. The only problem would be finding the time for it. We’ll see what happens.

Music – Bloodhound Gang – “Mope” (cool song containing what might be red box tones!)
