Rob @ 6:12 AM

Sometimes I really wonder about my atachment to Long Island.  I've always said I
wouldn't want to move away, but what's really keeping me here?  I'm only in touch
with most of my friends via the Internet, and although I'd miss my family I think I do
need to get away from all the negative aspects of staying around.

It turns out there's more to than just gross-out pictures.  Check out this brilliant story of a crazy man who beat the system on Press Your Luck.  Thanks to Micah for the pointer!

Interesting journal experiment swiped from Grey and Murd0c...

Step 1: Open up your favorite MP3 Player
Step 2: Put all of your music on random (Or shuffle)
Step 3: Write down the first ten songs it plays, no matter how embarrassing.

  • Albert King - Calling on my Darling
  • Inkubus Sukkubus - Hecate Cerridwyn
  • The KLF - The White Room
  • They Might Be Giants - I Am a Human Head
  • Final Fantasy VIII - Eyes On Me
  • Queen - Radio Ga Ga
  • Superfriends Theme (in Portuguese)
  • Insane Clown Posse - The Show Must Go On
  • Blackalicious - Paragraph President
  • John Sperm - Bad Haircut (prank call)

Ten more bonus tracks:

  • Final Fantasy 7 DjChubbyC vs. GoGoBoco! OC ReMix
  • Detroit Jr. - Too Poor
  • Insane Clown Posse - Another Love Song (Dance Remix)
  • Parappa the Rapper OST - Masaya Matsuura - Straight to Hell
  • Delirium featuring Kirsty Hawkshaw - Nature's Kingdom
  • Doctor Who 1996 OST - John Debney - City Scape
  • Blue Man Group featuring Avram Gletsman - The Current
  • Kraftwerk - Telephone Call (remix)
  • Information Society - We Don't Take
  • Rip Slyme - R Ee Em

And, swiped from Ilya and Murd0c, here are the movies I've seen from IMDB's list of the bottom 100 films, italicized commentary mine...

2 'Manos' the Hands of Fate (1966) 1.6 (5473 votes)
Really bad.  The MST3k cast had to watch over 1000 bad movies, and they still concur that this was the worst one they had to watch.  I love MST3k, but this movie is even hard to watch when MSTed.
5 Space Mutiny (1988) 1.7 (1252 votes)
Saw this in elementary school for some reason, and didn't notice how bad it was until MST3k did their business on it years later.
6 Eegah (1962) 1.7 (811 votes)
Another classic MST3k.  I wonder if MSTies purposely pump up their favorite MSTed movies on the bad movie list.
14 Uomo puma, L' (1980) 2.0 (642 votes)
Puma Man!  Another one I saw when really little and liked back then.  Eventually MSTed.  My suspicion about the MSTies manipulating the bad movie list grows...
16 Glitter (2001) 2.2 (3714 votes)
Saw a few seconds of this while channel surfing, and my eyes still hurt.
18 Police Academy: Mission to Moscow (1994) 2.2 (4046 votes)
Hey!  These were funny.
19 Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964) 2.2 (1394 votes)
Here's one my family loved laughing at for years before MST3k ran it.
21 Leonard Part 6 (1987) 2.3 (1830 votes)
I got a kick out of this.  The scene where they scare away a killer lobster with melted butter still makes me laugh.  I can't imagine why Leonard Part 6 - Part 2 never came out.
22 Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000 (2000) 2.4 (11548 votes)
I bet this pisses off the Scientologists royally.  Good! What's the matter, Scientologists?  Can't manipulate your IMDB listing as easily as you can send your own people to buy "Dianetics" en masse in order to keep its numbers up?
23 Hercules in New York (1970) 2.4 (1757 votes)
Ah, the dulcet vocal tones of "Arnold Strong," aka "an unknown Schwarzenegger dubbed over by an American guy."  It's funny - if you listen to his original accent on the DVD, and listen to him now, he really hasn't progressed in the English language very much in 34 years.  Whereas I subconsciously pick up accents after a conversation or two.
24 Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace (1996) 2.4 (1815 votes)
Poor Matt Frewer.  His kids must have needed shoes.  You deserve better, M-M-Matt!!
26 It's Pat (1994) 2.5 (1981 votes)
Dammit, I like this one!
30 Cool as Ice (1991) 2.6 (924 votes)
Why is the only version of this on the fileshares a badly done French dubbed version???  I need a copy.  I need to relive its badness.  Especially as I'm still a Vanilla Ice fan.
34 Mitchell (1975) 2.7 (988 votes)
Bad movie, and tear-jerking reminder of when Joel left MST3k.
35 Teen Wolf Too (1987) 2.7 (1618 votes)
Jason Bateman is no Michael J Fox.  Hell, he's barely a Jason Bateman.
36 Police Academy 6: City Under Siege (1989) 2.7 (3261 votes)
I don't care what anyone says, I like the Police Academy movies.
40 Steel (1997) 2.8 (1065 votes)
The peak of Shaq Attaq, and yet another bad comic-to-film adaptation.  The fact that they surgically removed all the "Superman" elements from a comic that was deeply entrenched in the Superman mythos really hurt it.
41 Police Academy 5: Assignment: Miami Beach (1988) 2.8 (3829 votes)
43 Rollerball (2002) 2.8 (3635 votes)
No movie with Paul E. Dangerously in it can be considered bad!!!  ECW! ECW!
47 Master of Disguise, The (2002) 3.0 (2429 votes)
I saw this at a friend's house.  Although being a Dana Carvey and Brent Spiner fan I'm glad to have seen it, I'm even gladder I didn't pay for it.
49 Spice World (1997) 3.0 (5613 votes)
Well, DUH.
50 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) 3.0 (1372 votes)
This is right about when Fina's Power Rangers phase ended, thankfully.  Still, my secret crush on Queen Rita Repulsa remains...
54 Street Fighter (1994) 3.1 (4851 votes)
Why, oh WHY did this have to be Raul Julia's silver screen swan song?
57 Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot (1992) 3.2 (4080 votes)
60 Barb Wire (1996) 3.2 (3942 votes)
Don't you hate it when they cast the most useless woman in Hollywood in a movie based on a comic you like?
63 FeardotCom (2002) 3.3 (3146 votes)
I never actually saw this, but I did once go to the website, FeardotCom, er, dot com.
65 RoboCop 3 (1993) 3.3 (3107 votes)
Get out!  This was good.  Better than "Robocop: The Series," anyway.
67 Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) 3.3 (4623 votes)
Okay, this is bugging me now.  Even the worst Christoper Reeve as Superman movie is miles better than a ton of stuff that didn't even make this list.
68 Iron Eagle II (1988) 3.3 (852 votes)
I remember seeing this in theaters, and being really disappointed that the likable mullet kid hero from the first movie gets killed off in the beginning for no good reason, and the rest of the movie is based on a cliched secondary character.
69 Mr. Magoo (1997) 3.3 (1879 votes)
Not even the great Leslie Nielsen could stop Disney from crapping up a great cartoon.
74 Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997) 3.3 (9831 votes)
Liked the first, and this isn't terrible, but you could really tell that the movie was written for Keanu.  Had he been in it, it might have not sucked as badly. Side note - if you click around Sandra Bullock's IMDB page and look up the posters / video covers for Speed 2, the Net, and pretty much anything else starring Sandra Bullock, she looks unusually hideous on each one.  Hollywood is apparently incapable of using a decent photo of her to promote a film.
75 Mr. Wrong (1996) 3.4 (1345 votes)
Fill in the obvious jokes yourself.
77 Highlander II: The Quickening (1991) 3.4 (7582 votes)
Another sequel that had nothing to do with anything in the world at all.  Even the people who make the Highlander movies and tv shows pretty much discount this one from the "canon."
78 Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol (1987) 3.4 (4235 votes)
This was the first Police Academy I saw in theaters, and it's still my favorite after the first.  So shag off.
81 Jury Duty (1995) 3.4 (1448 votes)
When I served my first jury duty recently, this is pretty much all I had to go on besides Twelve Angry Men.
84 Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (2003) 3.4 (2287 votes)
I've never felt quite as comfortable about watching a stolen bootleg copy of something as I have about this one.  Still, the line "Chicks are for Fags" still makes me chuckle.
86 Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959) 3.4 (5652 votes)
The classic bad movie, by which all other bad movies are judged.  Put on your favorite pair of Ed Wood pumps and enjoy!
87 Freddy Got Fingered (2001) 3.4 (6242 votes)
Tom Green was reasonably funny when he was an unknown pulling hidden camera pranks.  Now that he's famous and can't do that anymore, he has lost all ability to amuse.
89 Caddyshack II (1988) 3.5 (3108 votes)
Oh, bite me, it's fun!
90 Weekend at Bernie's II (1993) 3.5 (1599 votes)
What I like about this is everyone in it seems aware that they are making a bad movie, and they just have fun with it.
91 Super Mario Bros. (1993) 3.5 (3695 votes)
I must be the only one in the world who likes this movie.
94 Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) 3.5 (2326 votes)
Starring a slightly built part of Canada as Manhattan.  Watch for Jason's "Droopy Dog" stunt as someone escapes up a pole.
99 Batman & Robin (1997) 3.6 (22536 votes)
I'll bet Tim Burton laughs his ass off at this more than anyone else does.

Happy Violent Times day.

I really don't know whether or not to call myself single at this point.  Odd situation, really.  In any case, I'm not pursuing any other relationships for a long while.  I'm way burnt out just now.

Speaking of weak drama, someone in Fina's school is trying to spread rumors that Fina is a racist.  That makes us laugh a whole lot, since Fina is herself multiracial to the point of making genealogists jump off bridges.

Inflatable cactus fun at the February 6th 2600 meeting!

I'm really getting into music by Japanese rap group Rip Slyme.  I don't understand much Japanese, but their sound alone keeps me interested.  That, and I've always liked how Japanese sounds.
