Cheap geek thrill

Rob @ 3:09 PM

David Tennant is the next Dr Who!

Speaking of which, Who Is Doctor Who is a fictional website run by the BBC. This website was introduced in the first episode of the new Dr Who series as the project of a conspiracy nut who notices the Doctor's appearances in photographs and images throughout history. (Their photoshop jobs are pretty crap, though. Glad the rest of the show's effects surpass!)

The site continues, and "issues" of the site are released tying into whatever happened in the most recenbtly aired episode. "Sightings" are submitted by fans who would like to play along. I had to get in on this action, so in the bottom link of the issue pertaining to the first epsiode (alien menace: living plastic creatures) you can find my reference to my other loves of prank calls and my new mobile phone.

I brag!

Hooray for CCDs!

I've been having lots of fun with the camera phone, and although they aren't great quality I wanted to throw some of the photos somewhere, so I started a Flickr account.

Check out the Pope!

Time is an illusion.

Rob @ 7:30 PM

I recently started itemizing my jobs, functions, and projects. Looking at this its really no wonder I needed to get kidnapped and spirited away by the Scorpio Squad yesterday.

In no particular order, my current obligations are...

  • My "nine-to-five," which is a standard paperwork-flogging, data-entering, folder-filing job for a big corporation. It's not a bad job, but it's not a good one. This pays the bills and keeps the wolves from the door, but is not a secure job for many reasons. Needs replacing.
  • Job-hunting for a new nine-to-five.
  • My side gig as everyone's token "geek friend," doing PC repair (usually a round of spyware and virus scanning) as well as upgrades. This is mostly for friends and friends-of.
  • My web designing and hosting stuff. Technically it's on hiatus while I work some logistics out, but I still keep hella busy with it regardless. If it keeps this active when I finally start it up I'll be happy, but I can''t do that until I find someplace to live.
  • Looking for a place to live - That Guy Matt, Netta, and I are looking to rent a 3br house or apartment somewhere on LI. Somewhere the landlord doesn't feel the need to assume we're all having sex in a big pile would be nice.
  • Saving money. Being skint broke is not conducive to house-hunting.
  • My Tarot readings, which I'm doing for free until I get enough field experience to go pro. I enjoy doing this immensely, and will be doing more of it now that the weather supports setting up at a table in the park.
  • Figuring out a way to get to Vegas this Summer. Shooting for Defcon, but that looks less likely to happen by the day. If not the con, I still want to get out there to visit a friend I really miss.
  • My music, which at present includes a mashup disc, a cover album, and an original album.
  • A movie-related project for Grey-Fire, which is in the late writing stage but really needs to get recording soon or all is lost.
  • WTH, my beloved zine.
  • Putting together a possible standup act to try out.
  • Pod-Six, which I really suck at maintaining lately, and am seriously considering looking for volunteer help with.
  • My coven has a huge new beginning to look forward to, and I'm helping all I can with that.
  • Trying to get my shit together for a yard sale, which will hopefully turn some of my useless crap into money more efficiently than eBay.
  • Getting things in motion to start teaching a class I have in mind.
  • Trying to get back into my artwork. I draw and sculpt regularly, but I'm having the urge to paint for the first time in ten years or so. This brings up the further possibility of doing the starving-artist thing on eBay or somesuch.

So, World, this is why I suck at keeping in touch just now. Doesn't mean I don't love ya!

Wow..

Rob @ 6:59 PM

I-CON is off, Diane has more important matters to attend to. Send good thoughts her way.

In other news, I've just been given a big job, one I'll be proud to do and have some world-class help with. Woo! More later.

CONNNNNN!!!!

Rob @ 8:16 PM

Hitting I-CON this weekend with my dear friend Diane (of Salem trip fame.)

Party time fun time yeah yeah yeah!

I might have to bring Tom Servo.

Wow…

Rob @ 8:14 PM

Just had dinner with my dad, who I hadn't contacted much in the past decade or so.

It went very well.

Among other things, I came out of the "broom closet" for the last time, and revealed myself as a Pagan Witch to my father, the Anglican Reverend.

That seems to have gone well so far.

Long pointless quiz
