Happy Halloween!

Rob @ 11:04 AM

I'll be in the NYC Halloween Parade this evening, dressed as Harpo Marx.

Want to keep an eye out for me? Come see the parade! Lazier NYC locals can also catch the parade on NY1 from 8-9:30 PM. I'll be mugging at any camera that gets pointed my way.

I've also been invited out to this place, and with a name like that it must be cool, so I may end up there later.

In any case I'll be wandering around NYC all afternoon and evening, so if you're in the area and want to meet up at any point this evening give me a call!

Quick request

Rob @ 11:38 PM

On top of a bunch of other crap that's been going on, I lost my phone on the bus to work the other day. You'd think I was some sort of "phone loser" or something...

I just got my replacement going, but I've lost most of the phone numbers I had. If you have my number, chances are I don't have yours, so please throw me a call or a text message and identify yourself. Also, tell me who your favorite "Gilligan's Island" character was (even if you hated the show) and why.

If you don't have my number you can always text me by emailing firefone at my site, or by using the text message form on my LJ profile, just keep it text only please.

Torchwood!

Rob @ 12:00 AM

Torchwood.

If you missed it or, like me, you live in the wrong country for it, get thee to a torrent site or something ASAP. If you need I can probably send you an invite to my personal favorite, just email me and ask.

You know, for someone who doesn't actually own a television, I spend an awful lot of blog posts pimping TV shows lately. To make up for that, I promise to post about real life tomorrow. There's a lot going on, and I don't have time to post it all now and get a few hours' sleep before work..

Awesome! X! Awesome X!

Rob @ 4:38 PM

Last week you met Killface. Now, Meet Awesome X!

In other news, the domain I had used for Cat Badge, my web services gig, is no more. I let it expire, as my plans for that end of my expertise have been changing a bit. I'm still doing the gig for my existing hosting and design clients, and would consider taking on more work for the right clients. It's just that specific domain which is gone.

Killface!

Rob @ 8:36 PM

If you liked Sealab 2021 at all, and/or if this makes you smile, get thee to Adult Swim Fix and watch "Meet Killface," the first episode of Frisky Dingo, which is the insane new show from the old Sealab Crew. Watch it NOW, while it's still posted!!@#$%^&

Killface is awesome. It's been a long time since I've had this much love for a supervillain, and I'm not even dating at present.

Things and stuff

Rob @ 1:57 AM

I got a message a little while ago from someone who didn't supply contact info, asking about my NYC2600 page. In case whoever that was reads this blog o'mine, you can find that page here. Although it needs expanding and updating, the meeting info is all still correct.

In other news, I went to NYC Pagan Pride with four of my covenmates on Saturday. I really hate to say this, but as an attendee of the event for a few years now, this years event seemed a bit... sparse. There was maybe half the usual turnout in both attendees and vendors. I did leave during the first half, so maybe things perked up later on, but on the whole it was a bit disappointing. All was not lost, though. I got to see my old friend Melissa at her booth, and I picked up a really interesting new Tarot deck.

After that, we wandered around the City for the rest of the day. We ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company in Times Square, which is the best restaurant owned by a fictional character ever. Not only is the food really good, but they give you a metric ton of it. I recommend the "bucket of boat trash," which is a crapload of deep-fried seafood and fries, served in a metal bucket. Having recently done very well on a cholesterol test from my recent blood donation, I figured I was entitled to it.

After lunch we made our way to Madame Tussaud's where I was able to make my friends and a couple of tourists laugh with my favorite wax museum prank, which is to stand very still until someone approaches me wondering which celebrity I'm supposed to be. That's when I usually sneeze violently, or something equally sudden.

Later, in the room full of portraits of politicians, we got a nice group photo of all of us giving the one-finger salute to the current President. Nothing like bonding with your spiritual family through shared public obscene gestures to wax dummies! I have to remember to ask for a copy of that picture.

Sunday, I celebrated by blatantly failing to get anything done at all, apart from making a killer batch of tricolor pasta and meatballs with some specially hacked sweet-and-spicy sauce. It started as some leftover boring tomato sauce from a jar, but became highly customized with tomato paste, lemon juice, hot peppers, ginger, honey mustard, cinnamon, parsley, curry powder, sage, scallions, celery, and some other random stuff I'm forgetting. It came out quite awesomely, if I do say so myself. Paul Newman, eat your heart out!

I'm getting pretty close to deciding what I'm doing for a costume this Halloween. I'm down to a few choices.
