Travesty
Irena is an immigrant to the United States, who fell in love with and married an American. They were very happy together, and following the long, expensive process to obtain her permanent American citizenship. Sadly, he suddenly and unexpectedly passed away.
Becuse he died before the immigration process was completed, she is now being deported with no right to appeal. This is an automatic process by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, and is commonly known as the "widow penalty."
