Federally-funded abstinence clown

Rob @ 1:13 AM

Cheese and rice, this is unbelievable.

Federal tax dollars are going to clowns... literally. CLOWNS.

“Having sex before you are married is just like juggling machetes!”

“Sex before marriage will destroy all of your life’s dreams!”

Check out this must-see video of Dye at work in a middle school classroom

I was a pretty troubled and confused individual in middle school, and even I had enough self-possession to know sanctimonious bullshit like this when I smelled it.

You may be aware that I'm something of a clown myself. And by the power apparently vested in me as a clown to force my personal moral beliefs upon the masses, I hereby urge any and all of you out there to learn all you can and then make your own educated, responsible life decisions no matter what federally-funded claptrap gets thrown at you.

Now where's my fat government check?

yipes. i watched that entire video...and i want my six minutes back, as well as my brain cells. it drives me so crazy when they hammer on that whole "abstinence is the only way to completely eliminate the risk" line. of course, it is true, but it is not the One And Only One Comprehensive Tenet of sex education. stating that over and over again is not going to get people to stop having sex, and it ignores the fact that safe sex is worth the risk for many people.

...not to mention that you don't completely eliminate any risks of sex when you marry, which is something that i've never heard an "abstinence educator" tackle. signing some dotted line somewhere does not make you immediately ready or willing to have kids, and it doesn't make you immediately immune to sexually transmitted diseases. it's not risk-free just because you have a marriage certificate.

yeah, i know i am preaching to the choir here, but that video has made me all mad and ranty.

I would totally dress up as a clown to go give accurate and empowering sex education to youngsters. Who's with me? (/me isn't willing to watch the video and get that angry right now)
