Wikifinality

Rob @ 11:35 AM

Whilst catching up on Livejournal last night, I noted a post someone made about an actor who had just passed away. The actor's name didn't ring any bells, so out of curiosity I looked it up on Wikipedia.

I noticed that while the actor's death was already noted and referenced, the article was still in Wikipedia's "living people" category. As I edited the article to remove it from that category and place it into "2009 deaths," I realized that I might be performing one of Wikipedia's few edits pretty much guaranteed to stay that way in the long run.

@twitterererers

Rob @ 11:30 AM

My pal aestetix has blogged about a pretty glaring flaw in the Twitter API which requires your login and password to be thrown around the ether in plain text.

It seems to me that all users of the service, especially those who use Twitter apps, should be aware of this.

Running around

Rob @ 11:09 AM

Last Friday I went to a movie with Grey. She wanted to see Return to Witch Mountain. It's only because she is Grey that I agreed to see that movie, but I actually ended up enjoying it.

This past weekend I saw monochrom's performance at NYC Resistor. I also got to catch up with my dear friend Cableflame, stopping by New York on her way from Toronto to DC. Awesome day with her, and it was great to see our friend Daniel again as well.

Today I'm a bit overloaded, and I think I just need to go home and chill out after work. Sadly, that means I'm going to have to pass on the elephants, but I think it's for the best.

Heffalumps

Rob @ 2:34 PM

The elephant walk is reportedly scheduled for this Monday night, at around midnight.

For those unfamiliar, it's when the Ringling Bros circus walk their elephants into Manhattan as they prepare for their new season. The elephants walk out of the Midtown Tunnel, and proceed straight down 34th street all the way into Madison Square Garden. People line up along 34th to see the rare spectacle of a line of elephants marching through the heart of the city.

I've wanted to see this for ages, and am really considering staying up irresponsibly late and checking it out. Anyone local into going with or meeting up? Comment here or get in touch!

Are you threatening me?
