Shifting

Rob @ 3:40 AM

Hello, blog. What happened in November, you may ask?

A couple of weeks ago I turned 36. Like most of my birthdays for the past decade, it was my favorite birthday yet.

Thanks to our pal Finn, Gus and I have become mildly obsessed with an entirely ridiculous film known as The Visitor. It's one of those incomprehensibly-European, amazingly-scored, 1970s-tastic, benevolent-alien-and-evil-cult-fight-for-fate-of-mysterious-evil-superpowered-child-psychopath-as-gambit-in-intergalactic-biblical-battle sorts of movies; you know the type. In other bad-movie happenings, my acknowledged love for "worst movie ever made" The Room has been surprisingly deepened - and a bit rearranged - by reading The Disaster Artist, supporting actor Greg Sestero's book about the film and its maker Tommy Wiseau. If you've any interest in bad movies in general and/or The Room in particular, I highly recommend the book.

My pal Jeremiah from Earthdriver.org recently interviewed me about hacker stuff, whistleblowing, and related subjects. If you're into it, you can freely listen to or download the interview here.

I parted ways with MakerBot this week. The two years I spent there were a hell of a ride; I learned a great deal, I made some insanely brilliant and brilliantly insane friends, and I had experiences I'll never forget. I wish MakerBot all the best in their future endeavors, and I look forward to finding out what else is out there for me.

I'm tinkering with some really cool things behind the scenes, and blowing the dust off some shelved projects. More info soon!
