Thanks to massive cutbacks, September 1st is my last day at work at the ol’ 9-to-5.

Anybody hiring? I learn fast and smell nice.

Lost my mobile phone yesterday morning. Had to shut it off and get a replacement, which will take however long that takes. Until then, I am phoneless.

If you called or txted me this weekend, I didn’t get it.

I’ll try and leave AIM running, screenname Rob T Firefly, although that’s hardly a replacement.

On the plus side, I am living up to that “phone loser” label.

Finally, after years and years of knowing him online, goofing around on mailing lists, and eventually MCing a panel celebrating his work at HOPE5, met this guy in person. It was lots of fun, the Carter kids rock, him and Jammie are super sweet in that cute-couple-y sort of way, and I finally got to give him the original copy of a drawing I’ve been meaning to mail him for about three years.

Later, saw “The Aristocrats” with Fina and the twins. It’s stuff like that that really gets me hyped about going into comedy.

Will write more perhaps when I’m less asleep.

Fell asleep last night after watching two of Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson’s Bottom Live videos, and their film Guest House Paradiso, and woke up feeling wonderful.

I swear, therapists should prescribe the work of those two.

In other cool news, a Dr Who drabble I wrote called That’ll Put You Off Your Tea has been nominated for the Mauve and Dangerous awards. Many thanks to whoever did that!

Had a pretty miserable night.

Car accidents suck.

Those two statements may well be related somehow, but I’ll leave it up to you the reader to figure out how.

Don’t worry, I’m not injured at all, just hideously inconvenienced and a bit shaken.

Staying home from 2600. I’m feeling too blah and not very social.

I’ve just been reminded I never wrote about when Cableflame came to visit a couple of weekends ago, so I’ll post a few highlights here…

• Showing her my town’s assortment of bars and more bars, with the occasional bar thrown in for variety
• Sarah, the coolest waitress at the Hard Rock Cafe’
• Introducing her to my geeky fandoms, and indulging in hers
• Horribly overtired and punchy browsing through Midtown Comics
• Cable reading aloud from a bloody awful Spider-Man 2 jokebook for kids, which was so painful it was hilarious
• (I’m paraphrasing here…)
  Cableflame: This magazine will freak out the newsstand guy when I bring it to the counter.
  Rob: This is New York City, I bet nothing freaks him out anymore.
