Second Life has pretty much lost me. The software hasn't been stable for me since Windlight, and the controlling entity has not managed to keep any of the faith in them I once had. My attentions and artistic expresions will be directed elsewhere for the forseeable future.
Virtual worlds and the artistic, functional, and cultural opportunies within have not yet come anywhere near their full potential; they still have a lot of evolving to do. I believe there is a very bright future to be found in such things, but I do not believe that future resides under the control of the entities we see in charge today, nor do I believe digital rights management (DRM) and other artificial content restrictions have any more place in virtual worlds than they do in the real world.
To those of you who made my time in SL more fun, thank you. I'd love to keep in touch if I can; please feel free to say hello any time.
Warmest regards,
Rob Triskaidekaphobia
