THINGS I'VE MADE |
This page is where I throw miscellaneous junk I've written or made up over the years. Some or all or none of it may amuse you.
This list is incomplete...
Original Texts
- whatthehellareyouwaitinfo - My personal web zine, featuring jokes, memories, rants, raves, and my mind basically vomiting onto the Internet. Fun stuff!
- NYC2600 - a newbies's guide to the local hacker scene's monthly mayhem.
Reviews
- Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie - reviewed for DAPcentral, the good folks keeping "lost" episodes of MST3k (and other lost shows) from staying lost.
- Information Society - Pure Energy/The Very Best Of - I reviewed Information Society's record label's attempt to unfairly exploit the name of the band by putting out a low-quality compilation. Interesting comments by InSoc's Kurt Harland follow it.
Blogs
- Here's my web journal, updated whenever.
- My livejournal, which I use as a dream log.
Fiction
- Doctor Who fan fiction on Whofic.com
Just in case my extreme geekiness and fanboy status isn't self-evident, I write fanfic for my favorite television show. All hail the British scifi gods!
Tutorials
- Hacking your Windows XP Start Button
A bit of desktop-customizing tomfoolery I wrote for PLA.
Transcripts
- Doctor Who - "The Two Doctors" I transcribed the first episode of one of my favorite Doctor Who stories for the Doctor Who Transcripts project.
- Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Episode 821 - Time Chasers - Transcribed for the good folks at MSTies Anonymous. I also did Space Mutiny, but it's not posted yet.
Audio
- Grey-Fire - My best friend Grey and I are getting an audio series together. There's a demo reel up to start.
- DJ Luciernaga - I categorically deny any accusations that this DJ, who does unimpressive things with sound clips, and I are one and the same... unless, of course, you really want to know. A product of my nonexistant record label.
- Guilty Deter - When RBCP of PLA hijacked my old defunct zine, fired the dormant staff (myself included,) and released a new issue, he included some phone-phreaking parodies of Eminem songs. So, I recorded one. Yes, all those voices are mine.. so is the substandard production. I had the flu while making this.
Loser stuff
For some other stuff I have written, check out the United Phone Losers webzine where I was a staff member, and sometimes editor. Being an underground humor / hacker / phreak / irresponsible-activity zine, UPL's subject matter is extremely likely to offend or corrupt. All information in UPL was for informative purposes only, and I don't advise anyone to try any of it ever.
Here is some of my Phone Loser stuff I'm particularly proud of. In some of the older stuff, I'm credited as "Rufus T Firefly," my old handle.
- UPL 15 - I instructed Windows 95 and 98 users on how to safely and easily change the Microsoft icon on the "Start" button to anything they want. People got inordinately freaked out when they saw me use my Windows 98 machine with the Groucho Marx "Start" button. I got lots of thanks for this one. Updated in my XP article linked above.
- UPL 16 - I wrote a fake Mitnick-related David Letterman script as a gag, which apparently fooled someone somewhere, since a letter was later printed in 2600 magazine asking about the it.
- UPL 17 - I guest edited this one, and threw in a calling card script which is totally useless these days but which worked way back when. Back in my day, grumble grumble go get grampa his pills, Billy...
- UPL 18 - I guest edited again, and contributed one of my most useful articles to date, on making pyramid-scheme spammers miserable. It's because of stuff like this that you don't really see this sort of pyramid scheme around anymore, a fact of which I'm proud.
- UPL 21 - Review of the HOPE 2k hacker con. My first hacker con, immortalized in electrons!
- UPL 27 - Guide to Hacker Cinema - I took on the mantle of UPL's resident movie critic.
- UPL 28 - I edited this issue. I also contributed a simple article on avoiding having your passwords logged by Magic Lantern-style keyloggers, and continued my hacker movie reviews.
- Toneage 28 - Toneage 28 was the wider-scope companion to UPL 28, and I edited this as well. I also contributed a totally incoherent chat log between myself and my good pal Enamon, and a neat free verse made entirely up of fragments of people's private files they shared with me over KaZaA.
I also have some innocuous but silly stuff in Dark Fluffy Phreaking Bunnies, the latest incarnation of RedBoxChiliPepper's irregularly updated zine on phonelosers.org. Same disclaimers apply.
Graphics
- InSoc vs TV - Kurt Harland of Information Society liked my silly animation based on his band's exploitation by VH1, and he used it to illustrate his own response to the subject.
- My art page
- More stuff coming soon.. in the meantime, there's some suff in my secret folder.
