Ericofone
1954

Originally conceived by Swedish manufacturer Ericsson as a telephone for hospitals and other industrial environments, the Ericofone boasted an innovative design which hid a dial and hookswitch in its base. The unusual phone caught on, and the Ericofone was released to the general public in 1956 in an extremely wide variety of colors.

The Ericofone was popular throughout Europe and North America during its lifetime. Production ceased in the 1970s, but the Ericofone now enjoys a cult following as an extremely distinct (and collectible) example of retrofuturistic design.
