Muppetational May 2025 day 11 – the original 1969 version of a “Sesame Street” character

Marker drawing of the original 1969 version of Oscar the Grouch (colored yellowish-orange with black eyebrows instead of his later green with brown eyebrows) hanging out in his trash can. The drawing is signed with my "RV" signature glyph and dated 5-11-25. The black, brown, grey, yellow, light orange, dark orange, and red markers used to draw the image rest on the table above the card.

The very first version of Oscar the Grouch was orange! He changed to green early in the show’s run; behind the scenes it was because the era’s early cameras were unable to capture the original color to Henson’s satisfaction, and on-screen the change was explained as a result of Oscar taking a vacation in Swamp Mushy Muddy.
